Fire Cider
From The Kitchen · Tonics & Shots · The immune classic · make ahead
In a quart jar
- ½ cup grated horseradish
- ½ cup chopped onion
- ¼ cup chopped garlic
- ¼ cup grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon turmeric · ½ teaspoon cayenne
- Raw apple cider vinegar, to cover
How to make it
Cover everything with raw ACV, cap, and steep 4 weeks in a cool spot, shaking daily. Strain, then stir in raw honey to taste. Take a tablespoon at the first sign, or daily through cold season. It bites, that's the point.
A gentle word
This is a traditional, food-based tonic, comfort and support, not medicine, and not a cure for anything. If you’re pregnant, nursing, on medication, or genuinely unwell, check with your doctor first. And no honey for babies under one year.
To your health, the real, homemade kind.
